Ahead of the Islamic festival Eid-il-Fitr, the federal government of Nigeria has announced public holidays on Tuesday 9th April, and Wednesday, 10th April, 2024.
This declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government.
Tunji-Ojo extended warm congratulations to the Muslim Ummah for the successful conclusion of Ramadan, the month of fasting.
In a statement delivered by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, the minister emphasized the importance of upholding values such as kindness, love, tolerance, peace, and compassion—qualities exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him).
The minister encouraged all Nigerians, irrespective of religious beliefs, to embrace unity to foster peace and national cohesion. He stressed the significance of collective efforts towards achieving harmony and oneness in the country.
