The Federal Ministry of Education has suspended a staff member of a federal college over allegations of engaging in an immoral video conversation with a former female student.
The Ministry described the incident as “totally unacceptable” and handed the individual over to the relevant authorities for investigation and possible prosecution.
In a statement issued in Abuja, the Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs. Folasade Boriowo, confirmed the Ministry’s swift response to a viral video showing the alleged act. “The Federal Ministry of Education is deeply disturbed by a recent video circulating on the internet, which shows a staff of one of the colleges engaging in an immoral video communication with an ex-female student. This is totally unacceptable,” she said.
The teacher, whose identity remains undisclosed, has been banned from accessing the school premises during the investigation. “The Ministry has taken immediate action by suspending the staff pending further investigation and necessary disciplinary actions,” Boriowo added.
She assured the public of a thorough probe into the matter, reiterating the Ministry’s commitment to safeguarding the dignity and safety of all students. “We strongly condemn all illegal acts and immoral behaviours that compromise the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of present, past, and future students. We reaffirm our commitment to providing a safe and protective learning environment,” the statement read.
The Ministry also appealed to parents, guardians, and the public to assist in addressing such issues by reporting any similar cases to the authorities.
