The Students’ Union of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUASU), Ondo State, has met with drivers to subsidise the transportation fee for students traveling home after completing their first semester 2022/2023 examinations as a way to ease the burden of increase in fuel price on them.
The Union in a statement signed by its President, Comr. Adekanye Mayomi Adeboye (INEC), stated that students traveling to Akure will pay an amount of two thousand naira (N2000) while those travelling to Owo will pay one thousand naira (N1000).
According to the statement, the initiative will commence on Friday, July 21st at University Shuttles’ Park.
The Union further noted that the initiative is applicable for the current academic year only, encouraging all concerned students to take advantage of the opportunity and make appropriate travel arrangements.
“Of the greatest AAUAITES. We write to inform you about an important initiative that the Student Union has implemented to ease the burden of transportation costs for students traveling to Akure and Owo.
“We understand that traveling to your respective hometowns during breaks can be financially challenging due to the exponential hike in fuel price, and we are committed to supporting you in every possible way. As a result, the Student Union has decided to subsidize the transportation fee for students traveling to Akure and Owo.
“We believe that this initiative will significantly alleviate the financial burden associated with traveling, enabling you to spend quality time with your families and loved ones during breaks. Your well-being and academic success are of utmost importance to us, and we strive to create a supportive environment.”
