Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has been formally installed as the visitor to the Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu in line with the institution’s laws.
Speaking after his investiture at the university pavilion, the governor assured that brighter days are ahead for the university.
He commended the university for the feats it has achieved in recent times and announced scholarship awards to Master’s degree level for the students that brought honour to the institution.
The scholarships were for two graduates of the university that bagged first class honours out of the four from the Nigerian Law School. The governor who also announced that the State Scholarship Board will be revived in the next one month told the university authorities to furnish him with the number of students in the institution to enable him slash the school fees.
In his speech, the pro-chancellor and acting chairman of the Governing Council, Chief Chukwu Wachuku congratulated the governor and pledged the determination of the institution to work with him in the task of advancing its fortunes.
He disclosed that the governor approved the sum of N3.5million to be distributed to the Faculty of Law, the Department of English and Literary Studies of the university and the students that made the university proud.
