Gov. Zulum Lays Foundation of Maiden Private University!
Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Zulum, on Monday laid the foundation for the construction of the maiden privately-owned university in the state.
The university, named Al-Ansar University, upon completion would become the private tertiary institution in the state.
Zulum had months back, endorsed the allocation of 100 hectares of land in Maiduguri to Al-Ansar foundation, which is funding the university project.
Al-Ansar foundation was established by its President, Dr Muhammad Dikwa, a retired federal permanent secretary and philanthropist.
The University is kick-starting with two colleges in addition to other landmark structures necessary for administration and lectures.
At the epoch ceremony, Zulum ordered the construction of a 2.3km road within the university. This was in addition to the ongoing construction of a low aquifer borehole by the state government in the university site.
In his words, “We are willing to support any individual or group willing to partner the state government in order to provide the much needed qualitative education to our children at all levels.”
Founder of the university, Dikwa appreciated the governor for his unflinching support for the actualisation of his university project.
