The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), specifically the Ojo, Badagry, and Agbara (Oba) district society, has recently conferred prestigious merit awards upon notable personalities.
The recipients included the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, Lagos State University (LASU) Bursar, Said Olayinka, and the Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Cornelius Ojelabi.
The distinguished list extended to encompass other eminent figures, such as the Alagbara of Agbara Kingdom, Oba Jayeola Agunbiade, the Oloja Eku of Igbesa land, Oba Abdulazeez Akinde, and the incumbent National Treasurer of ICAN,Biola Tobi.
The accolades were bestowed upon these accomplished individuals during the 10th anniversary and award ceremony of the district society, held at Ikeja, Lagos. Njum Uma-Onyemenam PhD, the district coordinator and the current Accountant-General of Abia State, spoke at the event, expressing commendation for Said Olayinka’s significant contributions, not only to the association but to the broader professional body. She remarked, “On my personal testimony, he is a role model to many, a true example to everyone, and I am happy today that you are being honoured.”
In response, Said Olayinka conveyed his gratitude to the organisation for deeming him worthy of such recognition, expressing joy at being acknowledged for his dedicated efforts.
He pledged to persist in promoting the esteemed reputation of ICAN, the district society, and the professional body at large. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji Bello, extended congratulations to the LASU Bursar and urged him to maintain his role model status, emphasizing the importance of continued positive influence.
This prestigious event not only underscored the outstanding achievements of the awardees but also highlighted the commitment of ICAN to recognizing and celebrating excellence within its ranks.
