The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reiterated its dedication to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in its host community of Bwari and surrounding areas.
This commitment was emphasised by the Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, during the 2024 Public Enlightenment Programme on Security, aptly titled: “Catch them Young Security Initiative,” which took place on Saturday at the JAMB Auditorium.
The event, organized by the Bwari Division of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), aimed to educate secondary school students about security awareness and the importance of community safety.
Prof.Oloyede, represented by Mr.Clement Ojo, the Board’s PCRC representative, expressed optimism that the initiative would profoundly impact the younger generation, fostering a culture of security consciousness from an early age.
“This initiative promises to leave a profound and lasting impact on the younger generation of Nigerians,” Ojo stated.

“We must recognise that a threat to one member of our community is a threat to us all. As an agency of government headquartered in Bwari, we are committed to collaborating with relevant security agencies, particularly the Police, to ensure that Bwari remains a safe place for everyone.”
During the opening remarks, DCN John Owen, the Divisional Chairman of the PCRC, emphasised the vital role students play in shaping their future and the society at large.
He encouraged participants to acquire skills and values that would empower them to make informed choices and resist criminal temptations.
CSP Baba Yola,the Bwari Divisional police officer, represented by DSP Alfred Abah, urged the students to avoid engaging in harmful activities such as internet fraud, cultism, and robbery, which could jeopardize their futures.
The event featured insightful presentations, including one by Dr. Olumuji Peter, Secretary of the Command and Control Centre, FCTA,who discussed the psychological factors influencing juvenile delinquency and suggested ways to combat it.
He highlighted the importance of extracurricular activities, positive role models, and community engagement in guiding youth towards a brighter future.
Mr. Kenneth Chima, the PCRC Bwari Division Youth Coordinator, addressed the impact of social media on youth behaviour, outlining both its advantages and the potential for negative influences, including cyber bullying and criminal behaviour.
