Jigawa Islamic schoolteacher nabbed for sodomising 12 children

A 23-year-old Islamic school teacher, Yusuf Yunusa, has been arrested by the Jigawa State Police Command for allegedly sodomising 12 of his students in Gwaram Local Government Area of the state.

The state Commissioner of Police A.T. Abdullahi, disclosed this while parading the suspect and others at the command’s headquarters in Dutse on Wednesday.

According to him, “On July 11, 2024, at about 2100hrs, information was received at the Gwaram Divisional Police Headquarters that, on the same date at about 1400hrs, one Yusuf Yunusa, aged 23, of Gwaram town, a teacher of an Almajiri Islamic school, formed the habit of taking some of his pupils out to different locations and forcing them to massage his penis and suck it, in the process compels them to swallow his semen.”

“On receipt of this very unfortunate and ugly report, detectives attached to the Gwaram Division swiftly swung into action and arrested the suspect. He was brought to the division for preliminary investigation,” he said.

He said a medical report confirmed the commission of the crime on 10 out of the 12 victims.

The CP said the suspect was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Dutse for a discreet investigation.

He said the suspect had confessed to the commission of the crime and would soon be charged in court.

Meanwhile, the command said it had also arrested suspected criminals from April to July 2024 including 25 armed robbers, six kidnappers and 39 rapists.

Others were 83 suspects for culpable homicide, 18 vandals, 58 thieves, 101 drug barons/users and three fraudsters.

He said items recovered from the suspects included two fabricated pistols, two dane guns, five ammunition and life pump action cartridges.

Others were 12 handsets, 14 motorcycles, two motor vehicles, one tricycle, six cows, large quantities of vandalised cable/ armoured wires, pieces of vandalised transformer and N792,000 cash.

Also recovered were counterfeited USD, 32 pieces of 1000 Plasma TV 36 inches, a laptop, Firman generator, submersible pumping machine, three sheep as well as dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, four and a half block and 322 wraps, among others.
