The Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with the Jigawa State Government, is set to host a two-day stakeholders’ forum aimed at strengthening security in educational institutions. Scheduled for March 6 and 7, 2025, the event seeks to enhance school safety measures by integrating host communities in protection efforts.

In a statement released on Monday, the Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Police Command, Shiisu Adam, emphasized the forum’s importance in addressing security challenges. “We are committed to safeguarding the educational sector from potential threats and fostering a positive learning environment,” he stated.

The forum will bring together law enforcement agencies, government officials, traditional rulers, and security experts. Discussions will include expert presentations, panel sessions, workshops, and training for the School Protection Squad (SPS). “We believe that by working together, we can develop effective strategies for ensuring the safety and security of our educational institutions,” Adam added.

Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State will inaugurate the forum alongside the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun. Other dignitaries expected include the Emir of Hadejia and Chairman of the Jigawa State Council of Chiefs, Dr. Adamu Abubakar Maje, and the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 1 Headquarters Kano, Ahmed Ammani. The Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, CP AT Abdullahi, and the National Coordinator of the School Protection Squad (SPS), CP Abayomi Shogunle, will also be in attendance.

Adam described the forum as a crucial step toward ensuring safer schools in Jigawa. “We are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our children to learn and grow,” he said, calling on stakeholders to participate actively. “Together, we can make a difference and ensure that our educational institutions are safe and secure.”

The event will be held at the Sir Ahmadu Bello Hall, New State Secretariat Complex, Dutse, Jigawa State, beginning at 10:00 a.m. each day. The forum is expected to produce key recommendations for improving school security across the state.
