The dead bodies of seven young men were found in a music studio in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital on Tuesday.

The deceased persons were said to be working in the recording studio located along Transformer Road in Amarata axis of Yenagoa, owned by one of them identified as Akpos Barakubo.
Residents suspect that the deceased, most of whom were said to be students of the Niger Delta University (NDU), Amasoma, Bayelsa State, lost their lives after inhaling the fumes from a power generating set inside a music studio.

The resident said that due to poor public power supply in the state, the crew members in the studio were working into the night using their generating set, adding that they might have fallen asleep without switching off the generator.

It was gathered that six of them were later discovered dead in the morning, while one of the victims who was unconscious and rushed to the hospital later died.

According to the residents, the students had taken into the music recording business to help themselves in school.

The corpses of the victims have been evacuated to the mortuary while security operatives have cordoned off the area.

The Police spokesman in Bayelsa State, ASP Musa Muhammed, is yet to speak about the incident after promising to find out about the situation.

The residents had blamed the state and Federal government as well as the Port Harcourt Distribution Company (PHED) for the death of the young men.
