The University of Calabar’s Vice Chancellor, Florence Obi, has terminated Victor Ecoma from his position as the head of the Fine and Applied Arts Department, citing allegations of negligence and incompetence.

In a statement released by the university’s registrar, Gabriel Egbe, on Monday, it was revealed that Mr. Ecoma’s dismissal stemmed from his failure to present students from his department for the institution’s 36th convocation ceremonies held on March 22 and 23.

Ms. Obi expressed her disappointment, stating, “Prof. Ecoma’s action is an act of negligence of duty and a display of incompetence.” She further directed him to transfer all university property under his possession to Prof. Echeta Chimezie, who has been appointed as his replacement.
