The Kano State Government has approved the vacation dates for the first term for all public and private primary and secondary schools, including day and boarding schools. The announcement was made in a statement released by the Ministry of Education on Wednesday.
According to the ministry, schools will close for the first-term break on Friday, December 20, and Saturday, December 21, 2024. “Parents and guardians of pupils and students in boarding schools are advised to ensure their wards are conveyed home by the early hours of Saturday, 21st December 2024,” the statement read.
The ministry further outlined resumption dates, stating, “Boarding school pupils and students are to resume on Sunday, 5th January 2025, while day students will resume on Monday, 6th January 2025.”
Education Commissioner Ali Makoda emphasized the importance of adhering to the stipulated schedule. He urged parents and guardians to cooperate by ensuring timely resumption. The ministry also issued a stern warning, stating that disciplinary measures would be taken against students who fail to comply with the resumption dates.
This directive underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining a structured academic calendar and ensuring discipline within the educational system.
