Marcus Aurelio Arduini Monzo, a Spanish-Brazilian, has been accused of murdering Daniel Anjorin, a 14-year-old schoolboy, during a 20-minute rampage in Hainault, London, United Kingdom.
Monzo, 36, was said to have run up behind Anjorin, slashing him in the neck and chest with a sword as he walked to school on April 30.
Monzo then went on to injure four other people, including a female police officer who almost lost her hand.
According to the Daily Mail UK, Monzo, who resides in London, appeared in court on Tuesday and has been charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder, two counts of grievous bodily harm, aggravated burglary and possession of a bladed article
After confirming his name and date of birth to the court, he was remanded in custody ahead of a plea and trial preparation hearing that would begin on July 23.
This would then be followed by a three-week trial set for February 2025.
On the day of the incident, Monzo, brandishing a sword, slashed at innocent passers-by, including Anjorin.
Police officers who rushed to the scene first had Monzo tasered before he was subsequently arrested.
A post-mortem later revealed that Anjorin had died of sharp force trauma to the head.
He was the youngest of three children from a Nigerian family residing in London.
It was also established that none of the victims knew Monzo prior to the attack
