In a landmark move to strengthen education, research, and innovation in Kwara State, the Consortium of Universities in Kwara (KU8+) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with RikeSD, an organization dedicated to fostering a knowledge-based economy and sustainable development.
The MoU signing ceremony took place today, December 6, 2024, at the Committee Room of the Office of the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of KU8+ and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, expressed optimism about the collaboration. “We are confident that the Consortium will leverage the exposure, experience, and expertise of RikeSD to drive KU8+ universities towards their desired goals,” he stated.
The event was graced by prominent stakeholders in education. Among them were the Secretary of KU8+ and Vice-Chancellor of Thomas Adewumi University, Oko, Professor Fransisca Oladipo; the Vice-Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Professor Noah Yusuf; and the Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University, Malete, Professor Shaykh Luqman Jimoh. Principal officers of the University of Ilorin were also present, underscoring the significance of the partnership.
The collaboration aims to synergize the efforts of KU8+ member universities and RikeSD to promote impactful research, innovation, and education that align with global trends in sustainable development. The partnership is expected to open new avenues for academic and research excellence in Kwara State.
