The Chancellor of Kwara State University (KWASU), Johnson Bamidele Adewumi, has lauded the Kwara State Government for its unwavering commitment to completing the Osi and Ilesha-Baruba campuses of the institution.

During a courtesy visit from the University’s Governing Council on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Oko in the Irepodun Local Government Area, Chancellor Adewumi expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the state government’s efforts.

“The State Government’s commitment to the completion of the campuses will drive the development of the areas where the campuses are sited,” he noted.

The chancellor emphasized the crucial role of education in fostering development and commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his focus on strategic sectors of the economy.

“Education is the key to driving development, and I appreciate the Governor for paying attention to these vital areas,” he added.

In addition to his role as chancellor, Adewumi is also the Asiwaju of Oko Irese and the founder of Thomas Adewumi University. He praised the Governor for aligning with the Governing Council’s recommendation to appoint Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh as the substantive Vice-Chancellor of KWASU.

“The new Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jimoh, is in an excellent position to succeed, particularly given the support he has garnered from the University Community during his tenure in an acting capacity,” he said.

He also commended the Governing Council members for their dedication and willingness to serve, describing the Chairman of the Council, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali OON, as an exemplary administrator. “Professor Ambali is an excellent administrator for this task,” he remarked.

Earlier, in his address, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali OON, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of KWASU, hailed Engineer Adewumi as a pivotal stakeholder dedicated to advancing the university’s interests.

“The chancellor has been instrumental in attracting attention and support for KWASU,” he said.

Ambali further commended Adewumi for his substantial contributions to the institution’s development and for his encouragement and support, which enable the Council to perform their duties effectively.
