The Lagos State Government has organised leadership training for members of Community Development Associations (CDAs) across the 57 Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas and members of Lagos State Community Development Advisory Council (LSCDAC).

According to Director of Community Department in the State Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, Mrs. Sherifah Ewumi-Dosumu, the training was aimed at ensuring transparency, probity and accountability in the discharge of duties.

Ewumi-Dosumu disclosed this during the annual leadership training organised by the Ministry for LSCDAC in Ikeja on Tuesday November 10, 2020.

She stated that the annual training was part of the government’s efforts to drive the policies of the present administration and replicate governance and leadership at the grassroots.

She added that periodic CDA meetings could engender harmony and help in ensuring seamless leadership in our communities.

Similarly, Mrs. Olubukunola Ogunbanwo, another Director in the Department, in her address implored participants to use the training as an opportunity to learn the rudiments of leadership for governance.

She said that “The training was designed to ensure that members of LSCDAC were acquainted with the policies and the T.H.E.M.E.S. Agenda of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu led administration.”

In his remarks, Alhaji Azeez Amusa, the Chairman, Lagos State Community Development Advisory Council thanked participants for attending the programme, adding that the large attendance is an indication of their commitment to community leadership.

The Chairman reiterated that the training was a reminder that certain values of leadership like honesty, accountability and effective communication should be embraced.

He said that this would strip the association of assumption-based communication.

Speaking on behalf of the participants, Chief Mrs. Titi Adebowale applauded Lagos State Government and the Ministry for the progressive initiative borne out of the principle of inclusiveness. He noted that they would put to practice all that was learnt at the training.
