The Lagos State Government on Thursday has commenced the removal of illegal structures around two primary schools in the Oshodi area of Lagos.
This was revealed by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, in a post on X.
Wahab said the removal became necessary after several contravention notices served to the perpetrators yielded no positive response.
He wrote: “After the expiration of several contravention notices served, operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps commenced the removal of infractions by the perimeter fence of Afolabi Nursery and Primary School, Oshodi and Methodist Primary School, Oshodi.”
On Tuesday, the ministry carried out similar activities in the Ikorodu area of the state where it removed shanties built by the perimeter fence of African Bethel Primary School. It also removed makeshift structures built on Fujena Street off Awolowo Road in Ikorodu.
The state government has consistently warned against erecting structures at locations that contravene planning laws of the state.
