The management of Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, has created a new portal on its website that offers students the opportunity to evaluate their lecturers.
With this development, LASU allows students to anonymously assess and evaluate the teaching experience of their lecturers; rate them or give feedback to the institution’s authority online.
Director, Quality Assurance Committee of the institution, Rafiu Okuneye, who heads the committee overseeing the project, said the new system was being introduced to students across faculties to ensure its appropriate utilisation.
But unlike what is obtainable in other universities around the world, the assessment will not be publicly available, as it will directly be deposited on the university management database.
This also means that a visitor to the website would not likely see the assessments against each lecturer’s profile page.
The LASU management said it hoped to help lecturers improve in their course delivery in the process.
Providing guide on the steps to follow, Okuneye said students would have to first visit the university’s website at www.lasu.edu.ng. On the home page, they would click on ‘students services,’ which would show a drop down menu.”
