The Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, an alumna of Lagos Anglican Girls’ Grammar School (LAGGS), Surulere, will deliver a keynote lecture at the school’s 70th-anniversary celebration.
In a statement released by the school’s principal, Mrs. Folasade Ogedengbe, the event, themed “Honouring Our Legacy, Shaping the Future,” will take place from January 10 to 27, 2025. The celebration marks a significant milestone for the institution, providing an opportunity for reflection and future planning.
“Celebrating 70 years of impactful existence of an individual, organisation or institution is a remarkable and auspicious moment for stock-taking and projection for future exploits,” the statement noted. The event promises a series of engaging activities designed to foster reunion, networking, and the celebration of the school’s rich history.
Revd. (Dr.) Olusola Odedeji, Chairman of the Archbishop Abiodun Adetiloye Foundation, along with other dignitaries, will preside over various events, including the dedication of new facilities. Activities planned include a Walk and Awareness Rally, an Old Girls Homecoming and School Tour, the unveiling of the Anniversary Logo, and an Evening of Praise, Hymns, and Psalms in the school’s chapel.
The celebration will also feature an inter-house sports competition chaired by Mrs. Augustina Makasy, President of LAGGSOGA UK and Ireland Chapter, co-hosted by the 1982 Set. The anniversary promises to be a memorable event, celebrating the legacy and future of LAGGS.
