MAU Yola graduates 63 first-class students at 27th convocation ceremony

Modibbo Adama University (MAU) in Yola is set to award degrees to a total of 4,638 graduating students during its 27th convocation ceremony on Saturday, May 13.

Of these graduates, 63 will receive first-class degrees, 1,069 will receive second-class upper degrees, 1,783 will receive second-class lower degrees, 552 will receive third-class degrees, and 40 will receive pass degrees.

In addition, the university will award 72 postgraduate diplomas, 480 master’s degrees, and 80 PhDs in various disciplines.

According to the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Abdullahi Tukur, the certificates of the graduates will be ready for collection on the day of the convocation.

The ceremony will take place at the MAU main campus in Girei, near Yola.

During the convocation, four eminent Nigerians will receive honorary doctorate degrees, including the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, former Adamawa State Governor, Bonni Haruna, top businessman and philanthropist Muhammad Indimi, and seasoned educationist Dahiru Bobbo.

MAU, a federal institution established 42 years ago, was originally called Federal University of Technology, Yola (FUTY) when it was established in 1981 as a specialised technical institution, and it remains one of Nigeria’s foremost universities today.
