Former lawmaker and activist Shehu Sani has revealed that the Nigerian government has terminated the appointments of some federal workers who obtained degrees from universities in Benin Republic.

In a statement shared on his official X account on Monday, Sani expressed his dismay over the development. “So sad to read the termination letters of some of the FG staff who graduated from the universities in Benin Republic,” he wrote.

Although Sani did not specify the reasons behind the dismissals, the move follows controversies earlier this year regarding alleged fake certificates issued by some institutions in Benin Republic.

The government has yet to release an official statement on the matter, leaving questions about the policy shift and its implications for graduates of foreign universities.
