In a dramatic turn of events, a Nigerian Navy Victory boat came to the rescue of 14 medical students who found themselves in peril after their boat capsised near the Calabar Marina Resort. While fortunate efforts resulted in the successful rescue of most of the students, three remain missing, raising concerns about their safety.

The students, who had traveled to Calabar for the annual medical students association NIMSA health week, embarked on a boat ride as part of their visit to the picturesque city. However, their joy quickly turned to fear when their boat overturned, leaving them struggling in the water.

Fortunately, the Nigerian Navy Victory boat happened to be in close proximity to the incident. Upon witnessing the distressing situation, the Navy crew swiftly initiated a rescue operation, working tirelessly to save as many lives as possible. Thanks to their timely intervention, 14 of the students were successfully brought to safety.

However, as the news broke, concerns grew for the fate of the three students who have yet to be found. Authorities have launched a thorough search and rescue mission in the hopes of locating and bringing them back to safety.

Eyewitnesses reported the chaotic scene at the Calabar Marina Resort, describing the panic and urgency surrounding the rescue efforts. The Nigerian Navy, known for its professionalism and swift response, demonstrated their commitment to protecting lives and their remarkable ability to provide assistance during emergencies.

Speaking about the incident, Captain Ahmed Bello, a representative of the Nigerian Navy, expressed his sympathy for the families of the missing students and assured them that every possible resource was being deployed in the ongoing search operation. He emphasised the Navy’s commitment to the safety and well-being of the Nigerian populace and urged the public to remain hopeful during this challenging time.

The news of the Calabar boat incident has spread rapidly, prompting an outpouring of support and prayers from the local community and across the nation. Many are anxiously awaiting updates on the progress of the search operation and praying for the safe return of the missing students.

As the search and rescue efforts continue, the Nigerian Navy remains dedicated to ensuring the safety of its citizens. Authorities have advised individuals to exercise caution when engaging in water activities and to adhere to safety guidelines to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.

The medical students’ visit to Calabar, intended to be an enriching experience, tragically turned into a harrowing ordeal.
