The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), has launched Digital Literacy For All (DL4ALL), in Nasarawa State University Keffi as part of curriculum to be integrated in the University.
Mr. Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, the Director General National Information Technology Development Agency NITDA who launched the programme at the school of postgraduate studies in Nasarawa State University Keffi, said Federal Government had provided policy framework to support the programme so that it can build students across the country.
He explained that in Africa, Nigeria are future of human capital; added that Nigeria population in a digital economic was about a platform and the platform and Nigeria’s would add valuable in the number of users it has.
The DG added that the more the users the more the digital literacy population the country will be.
According to Mr Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi,” The President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has set the target for us. The president is loud and clear when it comes to digital transformation.
” When it comes to diversifying economic through technological innovation, when it comes to reform economic for sustains inclusive growth which can even achieved through digital literacy skills and talent,” he said.
Mr. Kashifu Inuwa, further informed that digital literacy was not longer optional but necessity, added that everyone would need it to be included in everything they do today.
Speaking during the launching of the digital literacy for all (DL4ALL), governor Abdullahi Sule, who was represented by commissioner of science and technology Mr. Samuel Kafu Emaba, said that the governor is currently doing everything possible to ensure that every citizens is highly educated in the state.
The commissioner advised that all students and lecturers should keyed into the programme that has been launched in the institution, as it would expose students to cyber space in a current digital world today.
Mr. Samuel Kafu Emaba, also noted that Nasarawa State University Keffi is one the fast growing institution and learning in Nigeria, adding that the governor want the state to be digital smart in the nearest future.
On her earlier remarked, the Vice chancellor of Nasarawa State University Keffi (NSUK), Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman said the synergies between NSUK and NITDA has reached a pivotal junction as they gathered to formally launch the ground-breaking digital literacy programme which would be integrated into the University curriculum.
Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan opined that the partnership represent a transformative stage to equipped their students with an essential digital literacy skills and knowledge needed to strive in the 21th century mobile landscaped.
According to her,” This initiative we are not only empowering our students but also proficient NSUK as regional leader in the field of information communication technology, cyber space, artificial intelligence and robotics.
”This strategic integration cut based technology into our academic will opens all opportunities to our students and staff as well as allowing them to develop a critical thinking, problem solving and innovative mindset required to navigate the rapid involving in digital world,” she added.
The University Don further informed that she is confident that the collaboration would give a measurable benefits needed for the University, they students, their community and also their staff at large.
