The National University Commission (NUC) has officially granted full accreditation to the Computer Science department of Precious Cornerstone University (PCU), located in Ibadan.
This milestone follows a comprehensive inspection and quality control assessment conducted by the commission in December 2022.
The thorough evaluation aimed to meticulously assess various aspects of the department’s operations, including curriculum offerings, facilities, faculty expertise and size, as well as overall operational procedures.
The successful accreditation underscores the dedication of Precious Cornerstone University to maintaining rigorous academic standards that are aligned with the demands of the 21st century.
In light of this achievement, Julius Oloke, the vice-chancellor of the university, emphasised the institution’s unwavering commitment to upholding excellence in education.
Oloke stated that “The accreditation serves not only as a testament to the department’s adherence to high standards but also as validation of the exceptional quality of both students and alumni produced by the university.”
In a parallel development, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has similarly bestowed accreditation upon the accounting department of Precious Cornerstone University.
This significant recognition was extended during a prestigious award ceremony held at ICAN’s headquarters in Lagos.
Leading the accreditation process, Asaolu Taiwo highlighted that students enrolled in accredited institutions offering accounting programmes will receive the distinct advantage of exemption from preliminary examinations mandated by the institute.
Instead, these students will be able to directly advance to the professional level within the institute upon successful completion of their academic journey.
As Precious Cornerstone University secures these notable accreditations from both NUC and ICAN, the institution reinforces its position as a hub for rigorous education and training, setting a commendable example for academic excellence in Nigeria.
