Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has honored Samuel Badekale and Haroun Adebakin, the two best graduating students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) at its 55th convocation, by appointing them as the state’s Education Ambassadors and awarding them N10 million each for their academic excellence.
During a reception at the Governor’s Office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Abiodun praised the graduates, who both attained a remarkable 5.0 Grade Point Average in Cell Biology and Genetics. He described their achievement as a source of pride for Ogun State and a demonstration of the power of education in shaping a successful future.
“As our Education Ambassadors, you will serve as role models for students across the state. We will create programs where you can visit schools, inspire young learners, and share your experiences,” Abiodun stated. He emphasized that peer influence plays a crucial role in motivating students and that their voices would resonate more effectively with the younger generation.
Beyond the financial reward, the governor assured them of continuous support in their academic and career pursuits. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to educational reforms, including the Revitalization Agenda and the Learner Identification Number system, aimed at tracking student progress and improving academic standards.
In response, Badekale and Adebakin expressed gratitude for the recognition, highlighting it as a testament to the government’s commitment to education. They encouraged students to remain dedicated to their studies and avoid distractions that could hinder their academic success.
