Olam Agri, an agribusiness in Nigeria specialising in food, feed, and fiber, has awarded scholarships to the children of its employees and members of its host communities in Kaduna and Ilorin.

According to a statement from the company, the scholarships cover essential educational expenses, including tuition, books, and uniforms. Olam Agri’s aim is to invest in education to create brighter futures for young people while contributing to the development of local communities.

“This initiative is part of Olam Agri’s Seeds for the Future program, which is committed to ensuring a secure and sustainable future for local populations,” the statement read.

Business Head of Integrated Feed & Protein at Olam Agri, Amit Agarwal,  emphasised the importance of education, saying, “We believe education is a fundamental right and a powerful tool for unlocking potential. These scholarships represent our investment in the future of our employees’ children and the communities we serve. We hope this support will inspire them to achieve their academic goals and contribute to society.”

Managing Director of Olam Agri in Nigeria, Anil Nair, stressed the company’s 35-year history in Nigeria and its commitment to aligning with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“By providing educational opportunities, we are helping to build a more sustainable and progressive future for the beneficiaries,” he added.

Nair also explained that Olam Agri’s dedication to education extends beyond financial support, as the company is involved in school infrastructure improvements, teacher training programs, and literacy initiatives to foster community development.

Meanwhile, a scholarship recipient and student at Essence International School in Kaduna, Obi Amarachukwu, expressed gratitude for the financial relief, noting that the scholarship has eased their family’s financial burden and allowed their parents to focus on other needs.

The Asiwaju of Ogbondoroko Land in Ilorin, Kwara State, Alhaji Ibrahim Isiaka, praised the scholarship program’s positive impact on families and its role in enabling young people to pursue their education.

He commended Olam Agri’s strong commitment to community development.
