Dr. Nsikak Akpan, a dedicated lecturer at Foreign Links College of Health Technology in Moro, Osun State, has now surpassed 125 hours in his ongoing marathon lecture, with less than 25 hours remaining to break the current world record. This impressive milestone is part of his ambitious 150-hour lecture marathon, which aims to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest lecture duration.
Dr. Akpan began his journey on September 20 and has already garnered significant attention for his endurance and commitment to education. Earlier, reports confirmed that he crossed the 100-hour mark, inching closer to the world record held by Indian professor Arvin Mishra, who lectured for 139 hours, 52 minutes, and 42 seconds in 2014.
Themed “Relationships between Man’s Environment and Health,” Dr. Akpan’s lecture is designed to engage students in critical discussions on health issues. His focus in recent hours has been on mental health, where he emphasized the strong connection between environmental factors and individual well-being.
“The mental health of a man is shaped by many factors, especially his environmental and spiritual well-being. The environment in which one lives and works has a direct impact on health,” Dr. Akpan explained during his lecture.
Each session of the marathon lecture lasts four hours, followed by a brief 20-minute break. As he nears the finish line, Dr. Akpan’s feat has become a source of inspiration to students and the academic community, showcasing the power of perseverance and the passion for knowledge.
With less than 25 hours left to break the world record, all eyes are on Dr. Akpan as he pushes forward in this historic educational endeavor.
