After four years of graduation from the institution, former Student Union Government President of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Comrade Bolaji Olaniyi Hope has been mobilized for the National Youth Corps Service.

The Union President Comrade Bolaji Olaniyi was suspended for leading a protest which was occasioned by the death of a Student in the institution at the time.c

According to him, said death was caused by ineptitude of the School Management and the protest that followed consequently led to the vandalization of the school’s health centre.

Comrade Bolaji Olaniyi received his final result last year after waiting for close to four years to fulfil all necessary conditions after the elapse of his suspension.

Bolaji Olaniyi was suspended by the authorities of the institution after facing the school disciplinary council as the one who called and led the protest.

But after four years of the hiccup, the former President has finally been mobilized for NYSC.

“I agree I have wasted some years of my life, as the years wasted cannot be bought or redeemed, I have no regret whatsoever, to me, it was a just cause, I believe it is the handiwork of fate,” said Olaniyi.

When asked of his advice for upcoming Students Leaders, he said: “Experience teaches better, and when experience teaches, it is wisdom. They [student leaders] must learn from the strength and weaknesses of past leaders to build and improve on their strategies when agitating the interest of their members, they must strive to conserve the welfare of their members against all odds while ensuring they are also portraying the image of their institutions in good light.”

Olaniyi claims he is a victim of the dictum “Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. “Although, it was a selfless path I was willing to take even when the looming turbulence was seemingly glaring,” affirmed Olaniyi.
