The Osun State Government authorized the recruitment of five thousand teachers and two hundred and fifty education officers.
This was disclosed during the weekly State Executive Council meeting.
This decision aims to address vacancies within the state’s teaching service, as confirmed by a statement released by the spokesperson to the Osun State Governor, Olawale Rasheed.
Governor Adeleke, through an Executive Order, initiated the dismissal of previous teachers. Additionally, the administration plans to establish a review committee to produce a White Paper.
State Commissioner for Education, Dipo Eluwole, disclosed during a 2022 interaction with journalists that the state was prepared to onboard new teachers into public schools. He also mentioned plans for an education summit to implement recommendations.
The Council emphasized that the approval for teacher recruitment follows a comprehensive needs assessment ordered by the Governor last year. Moreover, it instructed the Ministry of Education to expedite the recruitment process to bolster the education system.
