The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Oyo State coordinator, Mr. Odoba Abel, has charged corps members to embrace wealth creation and contribute to nation building.
The coordinator made this call on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Scheme kicked off with a unity walk at the NYSC secretariat, Ibadan.
The state coordinator called on the corps members to be resilient, committed, develop an entrepreneurial mindset and always be willing to contribute to nation-building.

He enjoined the corps members to be vision-driven and always strive to live a life of purpose.“I want to encourage you all to always have a vision. Keep this in mind always, self-identification, self-realization and self-development,” he said.
Abel added, “This one-year programme is not a joke, so take it seriously. Be serious about this scheme. Take time to learn new things. Don’t just join the crowd and wait for ‘allawee’ at the end of each month.”
He also charged the corps members to see the call to service as a privilege to contribute their quota to the development of Nigeria and admonished the corps members and staff of the scheme to focus on physical training and intellectual activities.
“The training of corps members is divided into two components, which are physical training and intellectual activities.
“This walk is part of the physical training given to Corps members and staff. This walk is a mark of the 50th anniversary and it encourages us all to be physically fit. This training will make them better persons and ensure they contribute to nation-building,” he said.
