The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi, has approved the appointment of Professor Ukertor Gabriel Moti as the Director of the Abuja Leadership Centre (ALC), a TETFund Centre of Excellence in Leadership and Public Governance.
The appointment, effective for an initial term of two years, was announced in a letter dated January 10, 2025, and signed by the acting Registrar, Mrs. Islamiyat F. Abdulrahim.
Professor Moti, an internationally renowned expert in Public Sector Management and Governance, is celebrated for his contributions to leadership development. He is a Maxwell Leadership Certified Team Member, authorized to provide facilitation, coaching, and training on Maxwell Leadership content and professional development programs.
A distinguished academic and administrator, Professor Moti is also a Certified Management Consultant (CMC), a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants (FIMC), and the President of the Institute of Management Consultants (IMC) Nigeria. Notably, he is a CMC-Global Accredited Trainer on ISO 20700/2017 standards, authorized to conduct training under the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI). He is the first Nigerian professor and only the second African to be admitted as an International Academic Fellow of the ICMCI in Zurich, Switzerland.
With a career spanning national and international leadership and governance roles, Professor Moti serves on several prestigious bodies, including the African Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM) and the Accreditation Committee of the International Commission on the Accreditation of Public Administration Education and Training (ICAPA) in Belgium.
Beyond his administrative and academic roles, he chairs the Governing Council of the College of Education in Katsina Ala, Benue State, and is the Chief Editor of the African Journal of Public Administration and Management (AJPAM) based in Nairobi, Kenya. His global impact includes a tenure as a visiting scholar at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven), Belgium, where he contributed to the establishment of Centres for European Studies in African Universities under the Platform for African European Studies (PAES).
Professor Moti, who is completing his term as Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies at the University of Abuja, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political and Administrative Studies from the University of Port Harcourt, a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Lagos, and a Ph.D. in Public Administration from the University of Benin.
Widely traveled, Professor Moti has visited over 30 countries, sharing his expertise in leadership and governance. His wealth of experience is expected to enhance the operations and reputation of the Abuja Leadership Centre.
The University community and stakeholders anticipate that Professor Moti’s international exposure and extensive professional experience will steer the ALC towards greater achievements.
