The Provost of Osun State College of Health Technology, Ilesa, Dr Lateef Raheem, has said the institution uses several measures to ensure its students are focused and disciplined on campus.

Raheem added that despite being a higher institution where students typically enjoyed a degree of freedom, students of the College were expected to adhere to specific rules.

He stated that as a uniform-wearing institution, students were prohibited from wandering around town during school hours. If found outside campus, they are required to provide a valid reason for their presence.

Addressing concerns about security and discipline, Raheem highlighted the institution’s robust security network, which helps prevent the proliferation of cultism on campus.

Regarding the policy on pregnancy among students, he clarified that any female student who becomes pregnant during her studies would be temporarily suspended until she delivers the baby.

“Upon her return, she will resume classes with the subsequent academic set. This policy, he explained, is aimed at upholding discipline among students,” he said.

Raheem also noted recent developments in the institution, mentioning that he was the first substantive Provost in the institution’s 47-year history following the passage of an autonomy bill by the Osun State House of Assembly.

He further disclosed that efforts are underway to ensure that graduates of the Environmental Department’s Higher National Diploma program are mobilised for the National Youth Service Corps Scheme, with plans in progress to extend this opportunity to graduates of other courses through resource inspection.

In conclusion, Raheem reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to maintaining a conducive learning environment and ensuring that students adhere to established rules and regulations.
