A devastating rainstorm on Wednesday wreaked havoc at Mayigi Community Comprehensive High School, Ilase, in the Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State, leading to the tragic death of a 14-year-old Junior Secondary School Three student, Timothy Amosun.

The storm also left five other students, two teachers, a food vendor, and her seven-month-old child injured.

The Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Information and Strategy, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, confirmed the heartbreaking incident in a statement. Governor Abiodun expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, describing it as “shocking and pathetic.”

In response, the Ogun State government has pledged to cover the medical expenses of the injured victims.

The governor has also ordered the immediate transfer of critically injured individuals to specialist hospitals within and outside the state for urgent medical attention.

Furthermore, Governor Abiodun has directed the Commissioner for Education to visit the affected families and assess the damage to the school. Plans are underway to rehabilitate the institution to ensure the safety and continuity of learning for students.
