The First Lady of Lagos State, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, recently orchestrated the distribution of 100,000 copies of the Renewed Hope Initiative exercise books.

The symbolic handover took place during a ceremony, where the First Lady emphasized the crucial role of education in shaping the future of individuals and the nation.

The generous donation, a part of the broader efforts led by the National Chairman of Renewed Hope Initiative, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, reflects a commitment to advancing educational opportunities. Sanwo-Olu, serving as the State Coordinator for the Renewed Hope Initiative, highlighted the importance of the initiative’s Education Support Programme (RHIESP) in supporting the learning needs of students in Lagos State.

Sen Oluremi Tinubu’s belief that educating children yields tremendous personal benefits to society resonated throughout the ceremony. Sanwo-Olu quoted the legendary Nelson Mandela, affirming that “education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

Emphasizing the role of education in achieving Millennium Development Goals and reducing illiteracy rates, the First Lady stressed the empowerment that education brings to children, enabling them to think independently and shape their own destinies.

The 100,000 copies of exercise books will be distributed strategically to public primary school pupils and junior secondary school students. The administration has entrusted the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education and the Executive Chairman of Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) with the responsibility to ensure that these resources reach those who need them the most.

In a motivational message to the younger generation present at the event, Sanwo-Olu encouraged them to aspire to become whatever they desire in life. Stressing the power of determination, she urged them to embrace the right attitude and strive for excellence in academics and their day-to-day affairs.

The Renewed Hope Initiative’s impactful contribution aims to catalyze positive change in the educational landscape of Lagos State, fostering a brighter future for the students and the broader community.
