Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, marked a significant milestone in the state’s education sector as he officially inaugurated the Ogombo Senior High School, a 15-classroom block equipped with modern facilities, designed to provide quality education to over 2,000 students in the Ogombo community.

Governor Sanwo-Olu made the announcement via his official Facebook page, emphasising the importance of education as a fundamental pillar of his administration’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda.

The newly opened school stands as a testament to the government’s commitment to enhancing academic excellence in Lagos State.

The initiative to establish this state-of-the-art educational facility was spearheaded by the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), showcasing the collaborative effort of government and the private sector in driving educational advancement.

The Ogombo Senior High School is a three-story building, meticulously designed in accordance with global standards and the administration’s policy to leave no one behind.

The facility boasts state-of-the-art libraries, laboratories, and ICT infrastructure, all aimed at providing a holistic learning experience for students.

Prior to the establishment of this school, more than 30 per cent of students in the Ogombo community had to endure long commutes to access education. With the inauguration of this facility, Governor Sanwo-Olu has effectively eliminated this hardship, ensuring a brighter future for these young learners.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also revealed that “eight additional school projects are on the horizon for commissioning at various locations across the state, including Ipaja Junior College, Isale Ilu Majiyagbe in Ipaja; Oriokuta Junior Secondary School in Ikorodu; Thogli Community Grammar School in Badagry; and Ilupeju Junior Grammar School in Oshodi.”

These initiatives underscore the commitment of the Lagos State government to expanding access to quality education.

Furthermore, the governor highlighted the “EKO EXCEL” programme, aimed at equipping teachers with modern teaching methods and skills, fostering better performance and job satisfaction among educators.

These combined efforts are poised to prepare Lagosian children for a future driven by knowledge and innovation, aligning with the vision of a Greater Lagos.

Governor Sanwo-Olu concluded by emphasising that through modern infrastructure, improved facilities, and skilled educators, the government is steadfast in its mission to transform public education in Lagos, paving the way for a Greater Lagos powered by knowledge and innovation.
