The Sustainable Development Goals in Bauchi State have unveiled projects worth N500 million in the State.
This was disclosed on Thursday May 28, 2020 by the Director, Monitoring and Evaluation of the SDGs, Engineer Mukhtar Musa.
He stated that not less than N500 million had been spent on the construction and renovation of primary health care centres and blocks of classrooms in the last one year under the Community and Social Development Project intervention programme.
Engr Musa added that the projects were aimed at improving health delivery services, particularly in the remote parts of the state, and the standard and quality of education at the foundation level.
“In the health sector, a total of six health facilities across the state have been completely rehabilitated and expanded for effective service delivery. A total of N80 million was spent on the project.
“The projects that were captured under the 2019 intervention programme and all the facilities were completed in 2008. They were in dire need of rehabilitation and upgrading,” he said.
“Water supply to the facilities was prioritised because regular water supply is one of the key indicators for the provision of robust health services,” he added.
Musa said the sum of N420m was spent to renovate and equip some selected schools across the state.
He said new blocks of classrooms were built in some areas as part of the 2019 intervention programme, stressing that the state had to pay its counterpart funding before accessing the lump sum for the programme.
