Deputy Senate President Senator Barau I. Jibrin has announced a groundbreaking initiative to offer 300 scholarships for Master’s degree programs at select Nigerian universities.
This follows his recent sponsorship of 70 students for postgraduate studies abroad, underscoring his unwavering commitment to educational advancement.
Through the Barau I Jibrin Foundation (BIJF), 70 students from Kano State’s three senatorial districts recently embarked on postgraduate journeys to India. Now, the foundation shifts its focus inward, opening applications for 300 domestic postgraduate scholarships for the 2025/2026 academic session.
“This initiative aims to nurture exceptional talent and drive academic excellence across various fields,” the foundation stated, as it rolled out opportunities for graduates from recognized universities.
The scholarships cover critical and emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Data Science, Environmental Geology, Hydrogeology, and Oil and Gas Operations. The program will be hosted at six prestigious Nigerian universities: Bayero University Kano, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, University of Ibadan, University of Lagos, Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, and University of Nigeria Nsukka.
Senator Barau’s ambitious scholarship program reflects his dedication to empowering young minds and fostering the next generation of leaders in Nigeria.
