St. Augustine School, Ekiti, has emerged victorious in the intellectually contested 2024 CIMET College Quiz Competition, securing a cash prize of ₦30,000.
The event, which saw participation from ten schools—five public and five private institutions—showcased a fierce battle of wits and knowledge.
The competition, divided into two rounds, witnessed a rigorous selection process where six schools advanced after the initial round, while four were eliminated. Among the six finalists, three hail from public schools and three represent private institutions, highlighting the diverse academic landscape of the participants.
Claiming the prestigious second position was Faithlife International, earning a commendable cash prize of ₦20,000. Notably, Faithlife International has maintained consistent performance in previous editions, with their representation this year led by Master Temitope Benedict (SS3) and Master Mike Ayodele Great (SS1).
Securing the third position was The Gem Group of Schools, garnering a cash prize of ₦10,000. Their representatives, Master Abiodun Daniel and Master Omowaye Amos, showcased remarkable dedication and knowledge throughout the competition.
St. Augustine’s triumph was spearheaded by Miss Adeoye Eyiwumi (SS3) and Master Ajayi Emmanuel (SS2), whose exceptional intellect and strategic acumen ensured the school maintained its early lead and clinched the title.
The brains behind this event are Muyiwa Aladeyelu, an educator who resides in Ekiti. He is among those leading the charge for change in the state education ecosystem. According to him, any investment in education is never a waste of time. “We are waiting for the 2025 edition. It’s going to be an expanded version of this,” he said.
