Teachers Network seminar focuses on leadership, inclusive practices among educators

The Transformational Teachers Network (TTN) hosted a dynamic seminar centered on advancing leadership qualities and fostering inclusive practices among educators.

Held in Lagos, on Wednesday, May 1st, 2024, the conference attracted distinguished speakers and passionate educators from across the region.

The event, themed “Developing Leadership and Entrepreneurial Mindsets as Educators,” commenced with an engaging keynote address by Pastor Ituah Ighodalo, Principal Partner at SIAO and a renowned visionary in education and entrepreneurship.

Pastor Ighodalo emphasised the necessity for educators to cultivate adaptability, creativity, and strategic thinking within the educational framework to navigate the ever-evolving landscape effectively.

Dipa Donald-Horsfall, Head of School at Lagos Preparatory and Secondary School (LPSS), Ikoyi, led a profound discussion on the significance of differentiation and inclusion in creating equitable and supportive learning environments.

She highlighted the importance of recognising individual student strengths and challenges to cater to diverse learning needs effectively.

The seminar featured interactive workshops and discussions led by experienced educators and inclusion specialists, enabling participants to explore hands-on strategies for implementing differentiated instruction and fostering inclusive classroom cultures.

Key takeaways from the seminar included the promotion of individualised learning through diverse instructional methods, the adoption of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to accommodate all learners, and the implementation of inclusive assessment practices to ensure equitable learning outcomes.

Additionally, the event underscored the necessity for visionary leadership within educational settings, encouraging educators to proactively lead transformative change and embrace innovative problem-solving approaches. Collaborative partnerships with stakeholders, including parents and local businesses, were emphasized as vital for driving educational innovation and cultivating a culture of entrepreneurship among students.
