As students preparing JAMB and WAEC gear up for exams, it’s important to prioritise not only studying but also nourishing the body with healthy meals. Healthy eating habits help to boost concentration, focus, and the general well-being of students. Although eating well might be a hassle as many students will only focus on reading while neglecting their stomach. However, proper nutrition is important.

Eating a balanced diet like proteins, vitamins, and healthy fats while preparing for exams, especially WAEC and JAMB can help stay alert and productive. It can also help with memory retention during the examination.
Most students are found of focusing on eating snacks alone when examination is fast approaching . Eating a balanced level of healthy meals and snacks can help improve concentration and the overall cognitive ability of the brain. It also helps to stabilise blood sugar level and increase energy in the body.

This help to support brain health and reduce the risk of different mood disorders such as depression and anxiety. Students should infuse fruits and vegetables into their diet as well.

Preparing for WAEC and JAMB can be really hectic. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated and support optimal bodily functions. Carry water bottle around and ensure you drink at least eight litres per day. You can also get portable water around or buy sachet water if you do not want to carry a water bottle about.

No matter how tasking preparations or the goals you’ve set for yourself may be, aim to eat three balanced meals per day. This should include breakfast, lunch, and dinner, to provide your body with essential nutrients and sustained energy throughout the day. Make sure you ddont skip meals.

Also, always pay attention to portion sizes and avoid oversized portions, especially when youve skipped a meal, eating out or snacking mindlessly. Eating too much food can make you sleep while reading. You can use smaller plates to help control portion sizes and prevent overeating.

Make sure you eat mindfully and pay attention to your body’s hunger and fullness cues. Eat when you’re hungry and stop when you’re satisfied. Do not eat out of boredom, stress, or habit. This can have a negative impact on your health during and after your exam.

In addition, eat foods that are rich in calcium as it is essential for young people. Eat slowly and don’t rush your food.
