The Wicked Sister

Get stories like these delivered straight to your inbox.

Once upon a time, in a town of Malaria, there lived a cobbler with his two daughters, Selina and Bloom.
Selina was more beautiful than Bloom. And she was always so proud of her beauty that she and her younger sister, Bloom, often quarreled. She was looking for an opportunity to outshine her elder sister.

One day, Selina was walking on the path to the farm, she saw a kitten shivering with a terrible cold. She cared for the kitten and cured it of the cold. Next, she turned to see the kitten turn to a fairy and said, “You have showered me your kindness, and you must be rewarded for this,” the kitten said. The kitten asked Selina to wish for one thing that she needed as a reward. Hmmm! “I want my sister to be beautiful as I,” Selina said. “That is simple to do,” the kitten assured Selina.

Selina was glad to hear this. “Tell your sister to visit the palace. On her way, she will see a magic swan. She should wish for anything she wants from the swan,” the kitten told Selina.

Selina rushed home to inform Bloom, her sister. Bloom was happy to hear the good news because she had the intention to carry out some wickedness. Soon, Bloom left for the palace. As she was going, she sighted a swan. She stopped and wished that her elder sister, Selina, become ugly so as to outshine her.

The swan did as told. Alas, it backfired on Bloom; she became the ugliest in the town. Her father was not happy. Bloom regretted her action, but she asked for forgiveness and promised not to do it again.

Moral Lesson: It is not good to wish a fellow human being bad.
