The Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Mr. Afolabi Ayantayo, has issued a clarion call for educators, researchers, and policymakers to embrace innovation and collaboration to address the evolving challenges in education.

Speaking at the 9th Annual Conference on Education, Research and New Development (ICERND24), organized by the International Association of Researchers and Administrators at the Public Service Staff Development Centre in Magodo, Lagos, Ayantayo emphasized the transformative power of education and research.

“Education and research are powerful tools for transformation, empowering individuals, enriching communities, and driving national development,” Ayantayo remarked, emphasizing that a unified approach is essential for steering education toward inclusivity and resilience.

Highlighting the need for adaptability in educational systems, the Commissioner noted the rapid pace of global change and the necessity for schools to keep up.

He advocated for a shift beyond mere knowledge transfer, urging schools to focus on critical thinking, adaptability, and creativity to equip students to meet complex, real-world challenges.

Ayantayo further called for a supportive ecosystem for educational research, stressing the need for increased funding, mentorship, and academic freedom to encourage intellectual curiosity.

“We must foster an environment that welcomes innovative thinking,” he added, “so that educational institutions can produce insights that shape our future and build a resilient education system.”

The conference, described as timely and essential by Ayantayo, brought together experts to exchange perspectives, foster professional relationships, and discuss advancements in education and research.

In his address, Ayantayo praised the integration of digital tools in education while underscoring the need for continued investment in digital infrastructure to meet the demands of modern learners.

Ayantayo concluded his address with an optimistic view of ICERND24, stating that it provides a crucial platform to address the pressing issues in education today.

He encouraged stakeholders to collaborate in reshaping education and research, envisioning a more inclusive, resilient future for generations to come.
