The programme which has in attendance; students from various departments and faculties, market vendors and members of the university community, took place at the school auditorium and began at exactly ten o’clock in the morning.

While speaking with Pen Press Reporter, Amizu Abdullahi, a Deputy Director at Banking and Services Department of Central Bank Of Nigeria, Abuja said the purpose of the programme is to sensitise the entire members of the university community, students, market vendors and different associations in the university to understand what the e-Naira is all about.

“The advantage is that it is fast, cheap and right now when you’re using e-Naira to e-Naira we don’t charge you anything. Currently, we are running a promo that can give you not more than #200 cashbacks anytime you use it. There is transparency and a lot of benefits for the users,” he said.

He stressed further that: “there is also a possibility that the management would adopt e-Naira policy for the payment of tuition and other fees.”

Speaking about the massive turnout of people, Abdullahi said: ” I want to thank the university authorities, all our participants because the turnout was really massive and impressive.”

“The expectation now is that the participants should open the wallet, use it and also disseminate the information to the community members. Not only in the university, they should be our ambassadors and tell people around them,” he added
