UDUS: ELSSA orients newly admitted students

While advising the entire students present at the programme on how to scale through in their academic pursuits, Prof. Sheu Sidi gave them reading tips.

The English and Literary Studies Students’ Association Of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto has on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 oriented the newly admitted students of the department. The programme began at exactly 10 o’clock in the morning and lasted for 2 hours.

The programme had in attendance: The Dean Faculty Of Arts, Prof. Shehu Sidi; English and Literary Studies’ Head Of Department, Dr. Abubakar Alkali; Faculty Of Arts/ Department of English and Literary Studies’ Examination officer, Dr. Muhammad Sajo; and ELSSA Staff Adviser, Mallama Balqisu Kigo.

While advising the entire students present at the programme on how to scale through in their academic pursuits, Prof. Sheu Sidi gave them the reading tips and advised them not to waste their time all in the name of reading. “Even if it is one hour reading, let it be productive,” he advised.

In her vote of thanks, Mallama Balqisu, the Association Staff Advicer encouraged the students to take their academics seriously and do away from anything that could implicate them.

In an interview with the President of the association, Mr. Abdullah Mubarak appreciated all the distinguished lecturers from the department of English and Literary Studies for their support towards the success of the programme.

Speaking on the turnout of the students, Mr. Mubarak said, “Sincerely, the programme indeed witnessed a high turnout of 100lv students of ELSSA but less turnout of other levels.”

He stressed further that, “ELSSA Students should be ready to see this current administration as a new era, renewed hope, and a time of transformation, they should be ready to participate actively in any of the Association Programme.”
