A tragic incident occurred on Monday night at the University of Benin (UNIBEN), where a final-year student was shot and killed by unknown assailants suspected to be cultists.
The deceased final-year student was said to have been shot in his room in what appears like a cult-related incident.
The late student popularly known as ‘Mayor’, Edugist gathered was said to be in the Department of Public Administration and was shot at about 9 pm.
A student who pleaded anonymity said the deceased was shot in the face at point-blank range.
The incident caused panic among students in the university.
Mayor’s remains has been later taken to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) mortuary.
