Osun State Polytechnic Iree mourns the loss of one of its esteemed veterans, Pa Adeyemi Bankefa one of the most respected mass communication lecturer due to his adept nature and extensive teaching methods.

Pa Bankefa, affectionately known as “Baba Banky” within the Department of Mass Communication and famously called “Uncle B” by students, breathed his last in the early hours of today, leaving behind a profound legacy of dedication and service.

This anouncement was made known to Edugist by the Dean students affairs of the institution,Dr Olutope Abiola via WhatsApp.

Hailing from Igbajo in Boluwaduro Local Government Area of Osun State, Pa Adeyemi Bankefa’s career spanned decades marked by exemplary contributions to both education and journalism. Armed with a First Degree in History and a Masters in Journalism from the United Kingdom, he initially served at the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) before joining The Polytechnic Ibadan, which later transformed into Osun State Polytechnic Iree.

His tenure at Osun State Polytechnic Iree was nothing short of illustrious. Pa Bankefa played pivotal roles including as the pioneering Director of Publications and later as the Head of Department of Mass Communication. His leadership and vision significantly shaped the growth of the institution, cementing his reputation as a trailblazer and mentor to many.

Mr. Kehinde Alabi, the Rector of Osun State Polytechnic Iree, expressed profound shock and sorrow at Pa Bankefa’s passing. Describing him as a dedicated staff member, guardian, mentor, and counselor, Mr. Alabi highlighted Pa Bankefa’s enduring impact on the institution. “His contributions will remain evergreen,” remarked Mr. Alabi, underscoring the profound loss felt by the entire academic community.

Throughout his career, Pa Adeyemi Bankefa was known for his unwavering commitment to excellence, often pushing his students to strive for their best. His strict yet nurturing approach earned him respect and admiration from generations of students who passed through his tutelage. He retired as a Chief Lecturer, capping off a distinguished career marked by dea ep-rooted passion for education and journalism.
