At the 11th convocation ceremony of Wellspring University, Benin, Edo State, held on Saturday, a total of 116 students have graduated with 14 of them bagging first-class honours, according to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Ajayi.
Ajayi added that 98 students would be awarded post-graduate diplomas and master’s degrees, noting that prizes would also be presented to outstanding candidates.
The VC previously said the institution would confer an honorary doctorate on the Chairman/CEO of Channels Television, John Momoh, for his outstanding public service and immense contributions to the development of the education sector.
In his words: “The convocation programme will begin with a keep-fit exercise and a football challenge between the staff and student teams on Thursday. There will be a thanksgiving service and the formal welcoming of the graduates into the alumni association on Friday.
“On Saturday, the day of the convocation, Dr Ayodele Abioye, the Managing Director, BUA Foods Plc, will deliver a lecture on the topic: ‘Career and Life Transitions in Contemporary World’. The day’s activities will get to a crescendo with the conferment of first degrees, and higher degrees on graduands by the Chancellor of the University, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo,” the VC said.
The VC said the institution remained in good standing with the National Universities Commission, adding that the management was committed to the pursuit of the mandate formulated by its founder, Ambassador Daniel Isimoya.
