Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has unveiled plans to renovate 350 schools across the state.

Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television “Politics Today” on Wednesday, the governor emphasized his administration’s commitment to transforming the educational landscape and tackling the pressing issues of insecurity.

“We’re just barely one year in office, but I’m telling you, the narratives are changing for the better,” Governor Lawal asserted, underscoring the significant strides his administration is making in infrastructure development.

He elaborated, “Right now, we have over 350 schools across the state that we are renovating, rebuilding, and we’re also building capacity.”

Acknowledging the historical neglect of infrastructure in the region, the governor stated, “We have the least in terms of infrastructure, and we’re doing so much now to make sure we have adequate roads, water supply, and so many other things. So it’s an ongoing process.” This ambitious initiative aims to not only enhance educational facilities but also improve overall living conditions for the residents of Zamfara.

Addressing the critical issue of security, Lawal acknowledged the deep-rooted crisis that has plagued the state for over a decade. “The issue of insecurity is something that we inherited for over a decade, and it is not a problem we’re going to solve overnight,” he remarked, highlighting the complexities involved in addressing such a multifaceted challenge.

However, the governor remains optimistic about the state’s future. “We are making a conscious effort to make sure we face these security challenges head-on,” he stated. As part of this commitment, his administration established the Community Protection Guard last year, which collaborates closely with law enforcement to combat banditry and other criminal activities. “It has gone down drastically,” Lawal noted, reflecting on the positive impact of these initiatives.
