The Nigerian National Assembly has disclosed that repentant terrorists in Nigeria will get quality education.

This was disclosed on Friday 28th February, 2020 in the bill on the establishment of National Agency for Rehabilitation, De-radicalisation and Integration of Repentant Insurgents in Nigeria.

The bill states that the funding will come from the Universal Basic Education Commission and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund.

In addition, other sources of funding will include donations, grants, annual subventions from the government. Also, counterpart funding will come from the six North-East states of Borno, Bauchi, Yobe, Adamawa, Taraba and Gombe.

Senator from Yobe East, Ibrahim Geideam, sponsored the bill. He stated that the bill has passed the first reading in the Senate.

He, however, explained that it wasn’t his intention to sponsor a bill that will free Insurgents security agencies captured.

“My bill will not take care of insurgents the security agencies captured because those ones would face the full wrath of the law,” the Senator explained.
