In a shocking and deeply disturbing incident, Innocent Onwuegbule, the proprietor of the Great Leaders International School in Delta State, has been arrested for the alleged mutilation and injection of a four-year-old female student.
The harrowing incident, which transpired on October 4, 2023, came to light through an Instagram video shared by prominent human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu.
The video presents a brief interview with the traumatized child’s mother and the young girl herself, shedding light on the horrifying ordeal inflicted upon her by Onwuegbule.
According to the accounts provided, the school owner reportedly led the girl into a restroom, where he proceeded to use scissors to injure the child’s private area and injected her in the buttocks.
Gwamnishu, in the video, expressed the gravity of the situation, saying, “The guy who owns the school took the 4-year-old girl into the toilet, used scissors to tear the girl’s private part and injected her on the buttocks. Although they have arrested the man, nobody knows what the man used the girl to do. As the girl reached the house, she was urinating up and down. There was blood too. When the mother checked, she saw that her private part had become something else.”
The child’s mother, in the video, vociferously demands justice for her daughter. She revealed that there had been suggestions for her to settle the matter out of court, but she adamantly rejects such proposals, stating, “Dem dey tell me say make I go settle with the man. I no know wetin I wan take settle with the man. Na people [dey tell me that]. I need justice because the wey the matter take be now, dem dey look me like say I no get money, nobody to talk for me. That is why they are doing all those things.”
The child herself is heard in the video recounting the ordeal, saying, “Uncle school touched me. Uncle school cut me [with] the scissors … in the toilet.”
Efforts to contact Bright Edafe, the Delta Police spokesperson, for comments were futile as his phone line remained engaged. However, Edafe posted on his social media page, indicating that the Commissioner of Police had instructed the area commander to arraign the alleged perpetrator. “They are presently in court as we speak,” he stated.
This heart-wrenching incident has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving many in disbelief and demanding swift and decisive action against the accused.
The young victim’s well-being and the pursuit of justice are now at the forefront of public concern as this deeply distressing case unfolds.
